Frequently Asked Questions

Lately, we've been getting questions on how to become part of our amazing team here at Bulk. As a result, we've compiled answers to some of the most common questions we receive about employment opportunities at Bulk and living in PEI.

1. Do you have any current job openings?

Yes! To view our current openings and apply, visit our website at www.gobulk.ca and click the large "Drive for Bulk" button in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. You'll complete a quick eligibility questionnaire, and if successful, you'll receive a link to apply.

2. How many years of driving experience do you require?

We typically look for candidates with a minimum of 2 years of equivalent driving experience and a MELT Certified Driver Training Course Diploma.

3. What is your rate of pay?

At Bulk, we believe in competitive compensation that recognizes experience and skill. Our starting wages range from $22.50 to $25 per hour, with additional performance-based bonuses and increases tied to years of service. The specific compensation for each employee varies based on several factors, including years of service, prior experience, relevant education, and other qualifications. We carefully review each individual's background before providing specific details regarding their pay rate to ensure transparency and accuracy. This approach helps establish a strong foundation for our working relationship. For more information about our compensation structure, please contact our People & Culture team at hr@gobulk.ca.

4. What areas do your drivers travel to?

Our drivers primarily operate in what we call the "triangle" route, which covers Eastern Canada to North Eastern USA, back to Ontario or Quebec, and returning to Eastern Canada again. This efficient routing system allows our drivers to maximize their time on the road while maintaining a work-life balance.

5. What is it like to work at Bulk?

At Bulk, we pride ourselves on market-leading pay, where drivers are paid hourly for the work they do. Additionally, we uphold our company values in all aspects of the business and foster a positive, inclusive work culture where everyone is valued and supported. We believe that taking care of our drivers means better service for our customers and a stronger company overall.

6. Do you hire from outside Canada?

Yes, we do accept applications from outside Canada. However, we do have some restrictions for applicants requiring a US visa.  Applicants need to be able to enter the USA for work purposes.  Holders of passports from some countries require a B1/B2 Visa to enter the USA. This is a standard screening requirement for any Canadian transportation company that hauls to the US. For more details, please refer to the U.S. Department of State website.

7. Do you have driver-facing cameras?

We have inward-facing cameras (Lytx) installed in all trucks newer than unit 25356. Older units do not have this feature.

8. What is the average cost of living in PEI?

Prince Edward Island offers affordable living for average families due to relatively low costs. Housing, heating, and overall expenses are among Canada's lowest. The minimum wage is $16/hour. Visit the office of immigration to learn more.

9. How is the hourly pay calculated?

Our hourly pay system compensates drivers fairly for all time worked, including driving time, loading/unloading, inspections, paperwork, and other job-related duties.

10. Can I refer a driver?

Yes, we welcome referrals from both internal and external sources. Anyone can refer qualified drivers to our team, however, referral bonuses are exclusively available to active Bulk drivers. Please note that there are additional requirements that must be met for bonuses to be paid. For more information about our referral program, please contact our recruitment team.
